Reading task

1) Hello. My task was to read a story and and write a summary about it.

Once upon a time there lived a guy. His name was Hans. But because of his kind heart and good-humored face he was called Little Hans. He lived in cottage all by himself. By the way Hans was a very good gardener – best in the all country-side. This guy was selling his flowers in market for living. Hans had a good neighbor Hugh the Miller. He was the most devoted Hans friend. Miller was so devoted that he never went from the fence without taking some flowers from Hans’ garden. A gardener was a bit foolish because he believed everything what Miller was saying. And Hugh was teaching him about friendship in which only benefited was Miller. This was not good for little Hans. One time when Miller’s son got hurt the Hugh asked Hans to call the doctor. When he was going from doctor it was dark outside and he got lost. Hans fell into the big hole… Next day he was found dead.

2) 1 What are the animals talking in the beginning of the story?

They were talking about the kids which paid no attention to them mother. The animals were discussing about a devoted friendship.

    2 What does the author (Oscar Wilde) wants to tell a reader (what is the moral of the story)? Why?

Oscar Wilde wanted to warn a reader that he must to carry himself first. Only then he has to start carrying others.

    3 What are the animals discussing in the end of the story? What are their emotions/reactions?

They are discussing about the stories moral – does it have it, or not. They are discussing about Water-rat’s behavior.

    4 What are your thoughts and feelings after the story?
I really liked this story. I understood that the Miller was using little Hans for his own.
